THE PROBLEM
The purpose of this project was to conduct research and propose a concept for a new app. We developed a business model along with the elements, strategy, scope, structure, skeleton, and surface for an app that solves a problem, meets user needs, and exceeds expectations.
THE SOLUTION
Dog owners have to use many different resources to care for and train their dog(s) as there is no all-in-one solution. Our solution was to create an all-in-one app for everything dog-care related, with a variety of fun, useful, and engaging features.

USER FLOW CHART
We created a user flow chart help map the flow of the user throughout the app to determine and understand the navigation.

USER RESEARCH
We crafted three personas to define the target audience for the app and illustrate their distinctive characteristics.
JOURNEY MAPS CURRENT STATE
Journey Maps were created to determine each persona's journey throughout the app and the possible obstacles each person may face.

INITIAL SKETCHES
For our initial sketches we identified the key functions of the app and how to organize them in a way thats easy to navigate for users.

OUTCOME
During the beginning of our process, we conducted extensive research on the dog care industry, finding that pet expenditures account for over 90 billion dollars a year in the United States. As a result, we began developing an app encapsulating the many facets of the pet care industry.

We then began to think about our target audience, which was quite broad due to all the kinds of people who own dogs around the world. So, after all of our research, we settled on Pup Spot: the all-in-one spot for pup care. With Pup Spot, we wanted to communicate that we are a friendly brand here to support dog owners throughout the entire process of owning a pup.

Although our app has many different features due to the all-in-one aspect, we had to keep in mind simplicity for our users while designing the app. Our app needed to have easy to understand hierarchy, and we needed our iconography to be as clear as possible. Because of this, our app screens went through several iterations using feedback from user testing to ensure that each page was balanced, as well as making sure that the alignment of items made sense to the user.

Due to the wide range of users targeted, we also made sure to include ample white space so that the users could easily distinguish between different elements within the app. In the end, after all of our prototyping, we finally reached our end goal of creating an easy-to-use, all-in-one dog training app.
DISCLAIMER: Pup Spot is not partnered with Findster, as this company was used as an example of a possible partner for the app.
